Caring for your luscious new lashes

Happy Friday folks! Keira here - today I’ll be sharing our top tips for keeping your lash extensions in the best condition possible, and how to maximise your retention. There are a lot of factors at play when we’re talking about lash retention - lash sheds, hormonal changes, and even how you sleep can play a role in the longevity of your set, but worry not! I’m here to help.

I have been a lash technician for 8 years, and in the past 5 years have done extensive training and research into how to get the best possible results for my clients. This involved a lot of trial and error, and sometimes I still don’t get it right, due to natures forces (hello hormones!) or a change in our salon’s environment. However, there are lots of things you can do at home to ensure you’re giving your gorgeous new set of lashes the best start in their little lash life:

  1. Wash your lashes with a lash cleanser - every. single. day. Lash care kits are available for purchase within the salon. Whether you wear makeup or not - oils and residue can build up on the lash line, and over time this can cause a bacterial infection called blepharitis! Washing your lashes also means they stay fluffy and full for the duration of your time wearing them.

  2. Try and avoid sleeping on your face - I know it can be tricky, and you can’t really control how you sleep, but over time, friction from your pillow/sheets can interfere with the adhesive bond on the lashes.

  3. Whatever you do - do not pick, pull or twist your lashes! Picking lashes from the root is a controlled trauma to the hair follicle and over time can cause traction alopecia.

  4. Book infills every 3-4 weeks to ensure your lashes are fresh as f*ck at all times! If you can’t live without your lashes, why not take advantage of our lash subscriptions?
